About Us:
Happiness Family Farm was founded in 2016 by Prosper Hezumuryano and Rosata Niyonzima, who brought a wealth of farming knowledge from their upbringing in Burundi. After arriving in the U.S. as refugees, they began growing vegetables in a small community plot provided by New Columbia Apartments. Their passion for delivering fresh, culturally significant produce blossomed into a business serving local markets, restaurants, and community-supported agriculture (CSA) programs. Over the years, the farm has become a vital source of fresh, organic produce for the local community, especially low-income families and people of color living in food deserts. With a strong presence in farmers markets such as St. Johns, Kenton, and PSU, Happiness Family Farm is known for offering unique produce like amaranth greens, African eggplants, and zucchini leaves that cater to the dietary needs of immigrant communities.
