About Us:
We are Christopher LaRose and Jessie Spain, we met at the UCSC Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems in 2009. Being inspired by the work of Alan Chadwick and the movement which sprang from his teachings we have spent the subsequent 16 years growing food sustainably in community. In 2014 we moved to Portland and started a Fruit tree focused landscaping business (Tree and Ladder, still in operation) In 2018 we moved to the East Columbia neighborhood of NE Portland and began planting fruit trees and flowers to increase food security and add more beauty to our urban neighborhood. We began our CSA in 2020 and have continued to expand our offerings as the trees mature. We have over 50 varieties of heirloom fruit trees, and also grow rhubarb and berries. Our flower production and bouquets emphasize unique perennials and annuals as well as dried arrangements in the Autumn. We have honey and fruit pies produced on the farm available year-round. We are also a drop site for Lil Starts veg CSA (who used to farm down the street from us), and Cloud Cap mushroom CSA. We hope to add micro greens and bread CSA producers to our pick up shed this year!
