Introduction
This vibrant and zesty salsa from Wendy Downing and Adriana Azcárate-Ferbel of Three Sisters Nixtamal brings together tart tomatillos, creamy avocado, and just the right kick of heat. It’s quick, fresh, and best enjoyed the day it’s made. Perfect for dipping, topping tacos, or spooning over your favorite dishes.
Ingredients
¼ onion, diced
1 clove garlic
4 tomatillos, husked and rinsed well
1 to 2 serrano or jalapeño chiles (leave seeds in for extra heat if desired)
1 large avocado
½ cup cilantro (some stems are fine)
½ tsp salt
½ cup water
Directions
Add all ingredients to a blender.
Blend to your desired consistency.
Taste and adjust salt if needed.
Serve immediately—this salsa is best enjoyed fresh the same day it’s made.
