About Us:

Located in the lush Tualatin Valley near Forest Grove, Oregon, Sun Gold Farm is a family-owned, sustainable operation rooted in tradition and a deep respect for the land. Just a stone's throw from the quaint Dutch community of Verboort, our farm spans generations and once formed part of the ancestral lands of the Atfalati native tribe. Nestled alongside West Dairy Creek—named for the region's historic dairies—our land is enriched with two natural wetlands and abundant local wildlife.

At Sun Gold Farm, Charlie and Vicki Hertel, along with their son, Chris, cultivate a mix of commercial crops, including Timothy hay and Soft White Wheat. Our primary source of revenue comes from selling an array of fresh market produce and plants directly to you. You can find our wholesome products at local farmers' markets, through home deliveries, in our CSA program, and on our online store. We pride ourselves on farming methods that exclude GMOs and minimize pesticide use. Our crops are rotated to maintain soil health, benefiting from the rich organic matter left by the area's former dairies. We keep our fields pristine not just with machinery but with our own hands—mulching, rototilling, hoeing, and even kneeling to pull weeds by hand.
